Gataca Wallet
Questions
What is Gataca Wallet?
Gataca Wallet is a mobile app that helps you store, manage, and share digital credentials (secure digital proofs about you, like your email, phone number, or age).
Your credentials are stored on your phone, and you stay in control of when (and if) you share them.
What can I do with the Wallet?
With Gataca Wallet, you can:
Store credentials securely on your device
View and manage your credentials (keep them organized, check details)
Share credentials with services when you choose to (for example, proving your age)
Request new credentials issued by Gataca through Gataca Attest (built into the Wallet)
Is the Wallet free?
Yes. Creating a Wallet account and using the Wallet is free of charge.
Who controls my credentials?
You do.
The Wallet is designed to be user-controlled, which means:
You own your credentials
You decide what to share and with whom
You can delete credentials from your device using the Wallet interface
What are “keys” and why do they matter?
When you create a wallet, the app generates unique digital identifiers and cryptographic keys that protect your credentials.
Your Wallet uses these keys to secure your data and approve sharing actions.
Gataca does not have access to your private keys, which means we can’t decrypt your credentials or share them for you.
Important: you should keep your device and wallet access secure, because you’re responsible for protecting your keys.
What information does Gataca access?
In general:
Gataca does not access or collect your stored credentials or how you use or share them.
However, there are some cases where Gataca may store limited information, for example:
When Gataca issues a credential to you (so we can provide it)
When you explicitly consent to share information with Gataca
When credentials are handled through Gataca Studio (a cloud platform used by organizations)
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because credentials are stored on your device, if your phone is lost, stolen, damaged, or has errors, you may lose some or all of your wallet data.
This is why it’s important to:
keep your device secure
use secure screen locks
follow any backup options the wallet offers (if available in your setup)
How do I delete my data?
You can delete wallet data from your device using the Wallet’s own interface.
Important: Deleting the app alone may not delete the wallet data stored on your device. It’s best to delete your data inside the app first, and then uninstall.
Credentials issued by Gataca (Attest inside the Wallet)
The Wallet includes Gataca Attest, which lets you request credentials such as:
Email credential
Phone credential
Verified identity document credential
Legal age credential
When you request one of these, Gataca may need to process personal data to verify and issue the credential. You’ll be asked for explicit consent before any personal data is transferred.
Who can use the Wallet?
You must be over 14 years old to use Gataca Wallet.
When can access be suspended?
We may suspend or terminate access if:
there is repeated or serious misuse
we are legally required to
we believe harmful behavior is occurring (e.g., hacking, impersonation, harassment)
If you think a suspension was a mistake, you can appeal by contacting us.
Where can I learn more or get help?
