We know legal language can be confusing. Here’s a simple explanation of the most common terms you’ll see in our terms and policies.

App

The Gataca app you install on your phone to manage your digital identity and credentials.

Content

Everything you see or use inside the wallet, such as text, images, logos, screens, and other materials (including content from partners).

Credential

A secure digital proof about you — like your age or identity — stored in your wallet. It can’t be changed or forged, and its authenticity can be cryptographically verified, following the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Modelarrow-up-right or ISO/IEC 18013-5arrow-up-right standards.

Cryptographic Keys

Your digital keys that keep your credentials secure. They are used to protect your data and to prove that credentials really belong to you.

DIDs (Decentralized Identifiers)

A unique digital identifier created for you that helps prove who you are online without revealing personal details. It’s not a username or email, and it’s designed to protect your privacy.

End User

You — or anyone else who uses the Gataca services.

Feedback

Any comments, questions, ideas, or suggestions you choose to share with us about the wallet or services.

Personal Data

Any information that can identify you, such as your name, date of birth, or other personal details.

Third Party

A service or organization that checks your credentials (for example, to confirm your age or identity) after you choose to share them.

User Data

All the information related to your wallet, including:

  • Your credentials

  • Your digital identifiers and security keys

  • Backup data

  • Any personal information you provide

Wallet

A secure digital wallet that lets you store, manage, and share your digital credentials directly from your device.

Wallet Account

Your personal wallet setup, created when you install the app. It lets you securely store and use your credentials on your device.
