Overview
This document provides a comprehensive overview of the context in which Gataca’s technology operates.
At Gataca, we have been dedicated to the development of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI)—or as it is increasingly referred to, Decentralized Digital Identity (DCI)—since 2018, back when the technology was still in its infancy. During this period, we have actively contributed to defining specifications and have been integral members of the leading working groups responsible for developing the standards that guide this technology today.
Throughout this journey, Gataca has defined, implemented, deprecated, and reimplemented numerous specifications related to data models, formats, and transport protocols. Given the global relevance of this technology, many organizations across different regions have sought to establish their own specifications, resulting in challenges regarding interoperability among providers. Key organizations involved in these efforts include the W3C, OIDF, European Commission (EC), and ISO, among others.
This journey has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the Implementing Acts for the new European regulation, eIDAS 2.0, which is set to shape the global adoption of certain specifications, granting them a distinct advantage over others.
Below is a list of the key specifications supported by Gataca:
This foundational work highlights our commitment to advancing decentralized digital identity technology and contributing to its global standardization.
Conformance Tests
Gataca has successfully passed the various Conformance Tests deployed by EBSI, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving the highest possible level of interoperability. Interoperability remains one of Gataca’s primary objectives within the ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across platforms and services.
The following table highlights Gataca’s efforts in achieving interoperability, showcasing the successful completion of tests across all key functionalities: Issuance, Verification, and Wallets for both users and enterprises.
